Steve Streit (full name: Steven W. Streit[1]) is an American business executive, venture capitalist, and serial entrepreneur.[2] He is best known as the founder of the prepaid debit card industry. As an entrepreneur in the banking and finance sectors, Streit is the founder of Green Dot Corporation, SWS Venture Capital, the non-profit charity Patti's Way, among many others.[3][4][5]

Career[edit]

Steve Streit worked for about two decades in the radio broadcasting industry just before he founded Green Dot. He was also an executive producer in the film industry who has been nominated for the Emmy Awards. Streit produced two documentaries, Out of Omaha and Wrestle, with the later receiving an Emmy Award nomination.[6]

Steve Streit founded Green Dot Corporation in 1999. As the CEO of Green Dot, the largest prepaid debit card and cash processing company in the US, Streit has led several initiatives such as:[7]

  • GoBank
  • Green Dot "BaaS" (banking as a service)

Personal life[edit]

Steve Streit is married and has 7 children. He currently resides in Pasadena, California.[13]

Steve Streit is also the the Founder and General Partner of SWS Venture Capital.[14]
